Weight Control

Do you have health problems related to your weight?

  • Has your dieting history left you overweight?
  • Do you hold excess abdominal fat?
  • Are you concerned about developing diabetes or heart disease?
  • Need to control your weight to help a condition such as arthritis or fatigue?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then you may be interested in Balance, the new weight control plan.

What's different about Balance?

Some of the latest fad diets may appear to work in the short term, but in the long term may upset your unique biochemistry, anything from regaining lost weight, depression, fatigue, food cravings, PMS, insulin resistance etc to perhaps even contributing to a chronic or degenerative condition. Rather than a "one size fits all" plan, Balance takes into account your current health and lifestyle, your family history, and any medications you are on.

How does it work?

Put very simply, the body is self healing (think of how a cut heals). When it comes to weight control, it is in the body's best interests to build lost muscle, lose excess fat, and make repairs. The body just needs to be given the opportunity. Balance aims to provide you with a plan to help your metabolism to heal so that healthy weight loss can be achieved.

How do I follow the Balance Plan?

Experience has shown that integrating changes in simple stages can be more effective than trying to do it all at once. So there are three basic steps:

Step 1 - Most weight control groups have "joining fees." So do we! But the difference is that for your joining fee you have an assessment appointment, then The Balance team, (complementary therapists with training in nutrition) adapt "Stage 1" of the Balance plan, taking into account all of your health issues, your age, your family history, and your lifestyle commitments, not just your weight.

Step 2 - Within a few days of your assessment, you attend a therapist led half hour one-to-one session, and collect your personalized Stage 1 of the Balance plan.

Step 3 - Attend follow up therapist led half hour one-to-one sessions to monitor your progress, and/or to collect subsequent stages of the plan. (Normally 5-6). Depending on how long you take to integrate a stage, you can choose to attend weekly, fortnightly or monthly. (The only proviso is that if you haven't attended for 8 weeks, you will need to redo your joining appointment for a re-evaluation of your current health).
